Hound / Mixed : : Female (spayed) : : Medium
Ember is a happy, eager-to-please, affectionate Hound-Jack Russell mix recently rescued from an overcrowded kill shelter in South Carolina. She likes other dogs and would do well with a canine buddy or two—she looks to her foster-home dog buddy to learn good habits and to pal around with. Ember does have that chase instinct—especially when she sees animals like squirrels and cats, so we would not want her going to a home with cats. It’s important to know that Ember can quickly and easily jump a 4-foot fence (potential agility dog material?) especially if she sees a squirrel. Only 2 years old and about 45 pounds, Ember is an energetic dog but she also wants to snuggle and stay close. She loves contact, but isn’t pushy. When she’s not playing, she is lying down peacefully by her foster mom. Having spent the last 4 months of her life at the shelter, she’s about 95% house-broken. She is crate-trained, and has been going outside every day. She will be fine once she understands her “home” space. Ember is a willing learner and treat-motivated. She knows the commands SIT, and we are working on COME, DOWN, STAY and LEAVE IT each day. Her current health is excellent! She is chipped, spayed and had been treated for heartworm in August 2016. She is on Revolution at this time. Ember is going to make someone a fabulous family fur member for life—won’t you consider adopting her?
