This website is updated daily. If the animal you are interested in adopting is listed as "available for adoption", that means the animal is still in DPR's care.
Jackson is an adorable fluffy Maine Coon kitten with cutest ear tufts! He was rescued from a high kill shelter in NC and is looking for a home to call his own. He had a painful abcess on his little paw when we rescued him, and he was treated for that, and it is 100% healed! He has been through a lot in his short life and therefore takes some extra time to adjust to new situations. But if you give him a chance and have patience, once he gets to know you he is an extremely sweet kitten who enjoys being pet and cuddling on your lap. He has a cute little purr! He is mellow, but once he gets comfortable with you he enjoys playing! He gets along wonderfully with other cats and has been fostered with cats and kittens his whole life. He loves to cuddle up with them for naptime. Because of his initial shyness, he will need a home with someone who is patient and understanding, and is willing to work with him to bring him out of his shell. It will be worth it in the end because he is such a great little guy! He is healthy and ready to go home!
Jackson has tested negative for FeLv/FIV, is up to date on all vaccinations and litter box trained. We do not have a shelter facility, all pets are fostered in individual loving foster homes. Adoption fee is: $125
DPR cats receive the following medical care prior to adoption:
Initial vet visit
Spay or neuter (if cat is 6 months or older)
Rabies vaccination (if cat is 6 months or older)
Distemper vaccination
SNAP testing for FIV, Leukemia and heart worm
Broad spectrum dewormers
Monthly flea/tick preventative
Ear mite preventative
The above is standard for ALL cats in our care. But many cats we rescue also require some additional TLC prior to adoption, such as antibiotics, eye ointments, wound care, fungal treatment, x-rays, or various surgeries. We are an all-volunteer 501(c)3 charity. The adoption fee helps to offset our standard and non-standard vet bills.
