This website is updated daily. If the animal you are interested in adopting is listed as "available for adoption", that means the animal is still in DPR's care.
Check out the beautiful coat on Natasha! She has a very pretty black/grey speckled coat that we very rarely see! Natasha is only about a year old, and she has been through a lot in her short life. She was dumped at a high kill shelter by her owners because she was pregnant. When we rescued her she was so filthy and matted, the vet actually needed to completely shave her down. Unfortunately, she was exposed to Panleukopenia while she was at the shelter, and after about a week of being with us, she broke with the sickness and became deathly ill. The virus caused her to miscarry the litter, and she fought for her life in our vets office for a week while they did everything they could to save her. Thankfully, she made it through the illness (which has no lasting effects, does not stay in their system and can no longer be spread to other cats) and recovered her health 100%! She went back to her foster home where she regained her strength and grew back all her gorgeous hair. She is finally ready to find her forever home! She is a cat with a bit of an attitude (understandably considering all she has been through!) She can be very sweet, but it is on her terms. You've probably seen the internet cat meme's - "I want you to pet me exactly 3 times, if you try for 4 I will swat at you!" She isn't shy or skittish, she just likes to do her own thing. She would probably be happiest as an only pet. We are hopeful that someone will take a chance on Natasha and give her a forever home!
Natasha is spayed, has tested negative for FeLv/FIV, is up to date on all vaccinations and litter box trained. If you are interested in adopting, please fill out a "Cat Adoption Application" at www.DelawarePuppyRescue.org/forms
Adoption fee is: $150
DPR cats receive the following medical care prior to adoption:
Initial vet visit
Spay or neuter (if cat is 6 months or older)
Rabies vaccination (if cat is 6 months or older)
Distemper vaccination
SNAP testing for FIV, Leukemia and heart worm
Broad spectrum dewormers
Monthly flea/tick preventative
Ear mite preventative
The above is standard for ALL cats in our care. But many cats we rescue also require some additional TLC prior to adoption, such as antibiotics, eye ointments, wound care, fungal treatment, x-rays, or various surgeries. We are an all-volunteer 501(c)3 charity. The adoption fee helps to offset our standard and non-standard vet bills.
