Here's the story of Sandy Shower. He got his name because he was found at a beach house where he was frequenting the area under the outdoor shower. His mom was a gorgeous medium hair gray tabby who is a feral cat on Edisto Island in South Carolina. He was very young when he was caught and brought inside to safety. From the first moment his foster mom pet him, he was a sweet little friendly kitten! He likes to be held like a baby, and he has an incredible purr! He loves to play with every toy he has ever seen, but his favorite are ice cubes! He stands up tall at the fridge and asks nicely for one. He will also fish one out of the big dog water bowl, he kind of enjoys playing in water! His foster mom desperately wanted to keep him because of how sweet and playful he is, but the other senior cat in the house does not appreciate his teenage kitten antics. He loves to play and is very acrobatic! Since he was rescued from under the shower, he has never been outside, and he shows no interest in wanting to go outside. He has excellent litter box skills, and only scratches on his scratching posts. Sandy has no fear of dogs. He has been raised with an 85 pound Mastiff and a chihuahua and rubs up against them both. He gets along well with cats, dogs and kids. He will make a great addition to any family!
Sandy is neutered, microchipped, has tested negative for FeLv/FIV, is up to date on all vaccinations and litter box trained. If you are interested in adopting, please fill out a "Cat Adoption Application" at www.DelawarePuppyRescue.org/forms
Adoption fee is: $150
DPR cats receive the following medical care prior to adoption:
Initial vet visit
Spay or neuter (if cat is 6 months or older)
Rabies vaccination (if cat is 6 months or older)
Distemper vaccination
SNAP testing for FIV, Leukemia and heart worm
Broad spectrum dewormers
Monthly flea/tick preventative
Ear mite preventative
The above is standard for cats in our care. But many cats we rescue also require some additional TLC prior to adoption, such as antibiotics, eye ointments, wound care, fungal treatment, x-rays, or various surgeries. We are an all-volunteer 501(c)3 charity. The adoption fee helps to offset our standard and non-standard vet bills.
