This website is updated daily. If the animal you are interested in adopting is listed as "available for adoption", that means the animal is still in DPR's care.
Cara is a purebred Himalayan who is about 6 years old and was used as a breeder mom, and once she was deemed not useful anymore, she was dumped outside to fend for herself - with all 4 paws declawed. Thankfully, animal control picked her up and brought her to a shelter and contacted us asking if we would be willing to take her. Of course we said yes. This poor girl was completely matted, hungry and scared when she was rescued from the streets. Yet, she is as sweet as can be despite how she has been treated in the past. All she wants to do is cuddle in your lap. She is so affectionate and such a lap cat! She will need an adopter who is willing to brush her beautiful coat daily and/or take her to a groomer regularly to keep her from getting matted.
If you are interested in adopting, we ask that you please fill out an application at www.delawarepetrescue.org/forms
Cara is spayed, tested negative for FeLv/FIV/HW, is up to date on all vaccinations and litter box trained. If you are interested in adopting, please fill out a "Cat Adoption Application" at www.DelawarePuppyRescue.org/forms
Adoption fee is: $150
DPR cats receive the following medical care prior to adoption:
Initial vet visit
Spay or neuter (if cat is 6 months or older)
Rabies vaccination (if cat is 6 months or older)
Distemper vaccination
SNAP testing for FIV, Leukemia and heart worm
Broad spectrum dewormers
Monthly flea/tick preventative
Ear mite preventative
The above is standard for ALL cats in our care. But many cats we rescue also require some additional TLC prior to adoption, such as antibiotics, eye ointments, wound care, fungal treatment, x-rays, or various surgeries. We are an all-volunteer 501(c)3 charity. The adoption fee helps to offset our standard and non-standard vet bills.
