Yeah, we know Oscar looks a bit rough at the moment, but he has not had it easy! Oscar is one of the sweetest cats you'll ever meet. He was found as a stray in North Carolina, wandering around outside with a massive cone tied to his neck with tight, thick fabric. Nobody came looking for this sweet fella, and we were contacted to take him due to overcrowding at the shelter. The cone he must have been wearing for quite some time rubbed off all the hair around his neck, and since it also made him unable to groom himself, his long hair was in bad shape and very matted. After removing the cone, getting a bath, a haircut and some TLC, he sure is feeling a lot more comfortable! His hair is already starting to grow back. You might also notice that his one ear is folded over - he had very bad ear mites and an ear infection, and our vet suspects this might be why someone put a cone on him - to prevent him from scratching his ears (instead of just treating the ear infection and mites! Poor thing!!) His ears have been treated and are no longer bothering him, but the vet said the folding over of the ears is something that will be permanent. We think it just adds to his adorableness and makes him look like a Scottish Fold!
One thing we can tell you for sure is that Oscar is 100% lovebug. He wants nothing more than to just be pet and loved. He will rub up against you and follow you around. He is a definite lap cat (check out his videos below!) He is the sweetest thing and you can't help but fall in love with him. He gets along really great with all the other cats he is being fostered with, as well as the children in his foster home. He will make a wonderful addition to any family!

This cat is neutered, tested negative for FIV/Felv, is up to date on shots, and litter box trained!

If you are interested in adopting, please fill out a "Cat Adoption Application"   at   www.DelawarePetRescue.org/forms
   Adoption fee is: $150

If you are interested in adopting this cat, please submit a "Cat Adoption Application"   at   www.DelawarePetRescue.org/forms
This website is updated daily.  If the animal you are interested in adopting is listed as "available for adoption", that means the animal is still in DPR's care.

*Please note - we do not do in-person meet and greets. Potential adopters can speak to the cats foster mom on the phone or do a meeting on Zoom or Facetime if desired to virtually meet the cat. You can pick your kitty up "curb side". Cats can be returned with a full refund for up to one week. *

DPR cats receive the following medical care prior to adoption:

Initial vet visit
Spay or neuter (if cat is 6 months or older)
Rabies vaccination (if cat is 6 months or older)
Distemper vaccination
SNAP testing for FIV, Leukemia and heart worm
Broad spectrum dewormers
Monthly flea/tick preventative
Ear mite preventative
The above is standard for ALL cats in our care. But many cats we rescue also require some additional TLC prior to adoption, such as antibiotics, eye ointments, wound care, fungal treatment, x-rays, or various surgeries.  We are an all-volunteer 501(c)3 charity. The adoption fee helps to offset our standard and non-standard vet bills.
