Check out the cheeks on Cheeko! Cheeko is a BIG guy, weighing in at nearly 20 pounds! When we first brought him to our house we said "how many cats are in this carrier?!" Most of his weight seems to be in his cheeks! He has the most wonderful personality to go along with his good looks. He is an absolute lovebug who wants nothing more than to be pet and cuddle on your lap. He was found as a stray in NC and ended up at a shelter. When we learned what an amazing persoanlity he has, we pulled him from the shelter and transported him up here to find his forever home! When he's not cuddling, he loves to play! Especially with the wand toys. He likes to be brushed and have his cheeks scratched. He has a short little tail - the vet does not think it was due to an injury, he thinks he was born this way and is a Bobtail breed. He is perfect with using the litter box, we just can't say enough great things about Cheeko! We love him, and we know you will too!
This cat is neutered, microchipped, tested negative for FIV and Leukemia and is up to date on all age-appropriate vaccinations.

This website is updated daily. If the animal you are interested in adopting is listed as "available for adoption", that means the animal is still in DPR's care.
*Please note - we do not do in-person meet and greets. Potential adopters can speak to the cats foster mom on the phone or do a meeting on Zoom or Facetime if desired to virtually meet the cat. You can pick your kitty up "curb side". Cats can be returned with a full refund for up to one week. *
DPR cats receive the following medical care prior to adoption:
Initial vet visit
Spay or neuter (if cat is 6 months or older)
Rabies vaccination (if cat is 6 months or older)
Distemper vaccination
SNAP testing for FIV, Leukemia and heart worm
Broad spectrum dewormers
Monthly flea/tick preventative
Ear mite preventative
The above is standard for ALL cats in our care. But many cats we rescue also require some additional TLC prior to adoption, such as antibiotics, eye ointments, wound care, fungal treatment, x-rays, or various surgeries. We are an all-volunteer 501(c)3 charity. The adoption fee helps to offset our standard and non-standard vet bills.
