Meet Verdana! This gorgeous girl very nearly did not survive when she was given a dose of flea medication that was meant for dogs. She was brought to the shelter with her kitten - both were experiencing seizures, and the owner could not afford a vet bill. Both her and her kitten pulled through thankfully! Her kitten was adopted right away at the shelter, and we took her into our program. Verdana is the ultimate lap cat. The instant anyone sits down, she instantly jumps on their lap and will stay there for as long as you let her. She would be a wonderful therapy cat. She is so affectionate and sweet, and purrs and purrs, and just wants all the love. She has long fluffy hair which is super soft, and all she wants is to be petted. She is wonderful with all the other animals as well. We truly cannot say enough great things about this girl. She is super special, one of a kind, and you'll be hard pressed to find a more affectionate cat!!
This cat is spayed, microchipped, tested negative for FIV and Leukemia and is up to date on all age-appropriate vaccinations.

This website is updated daily. If the animal you are interested in adopting is listed as "available for adoption", that means the animal is still in DPR's care.
*Please note - we do not do in-person meet and greets. Potential adopters can speak to the cats foster mom on the phone or do a meeting on Zoom or Facetime if desired to virtually meet the cat. You can pick your kitty up "curb side". Cats can be returned with a full refund for up to one week. *
DPR cats receive the following medical care prior to adoption:
Initial vet visit
Spay or neuter (if cat is 6 months or older)
Rabies vaccination (if cat is 6 months or older)
Distemper vaccination
SNAP testing for FIV, Leukemia and heart worm
Broad spectrum dewormers
Monthly flea/tick preventative
Ear mite preventative
The above is standard for ALL cats in our care. But many cats we rescue also require some additional TLC prior to adoption, such as antibiotics, eye ointments, wound care, fungal treatment, x-rays, or various surgeries. We are an all-volunteer 501(c)3 charity. The adoption fee helps to offset our standard and non-standard vet bills.
