Chelsea was rescued from a Puppy Mill in Lancaster, PA after years of living in a small cage having puppies only to have the millers take them from her to sell to puppy stores. Now, after many months of being in a home with a loving foster mom and furry siblings she is learning that life can be exciting and that not all people are bad.

Chelsea loves to be with her foster mom, and is always by her side and follows her everywhere around the house; however she still has a fear of being picked up. She does relax once she's in your arms. But the years of having uncaring hands coming at her will take more time to overcome.

Chelsea has personality galore and an adorable waddle to her step. She will make you laugh and smile throughout the day.

She needs that special adopter who will have the time to let her re-adjust to her forever home and show her that being held and petted can be a wonderful thing!

Because of years living in a cage she does not do well with stairs so a home without stairs going outside would be ideal. Chelsea would do best in a more quiet home rather than one with lots of activity.

She is very special to all of us at DPR and we know she is ready for her final step to freedom from years of suffering and living in fear in that mill.

If you would like to meet Chelsea, please submit an adoption application.

More about Chelsea

Good with Dogs, Is Not Good with Kids

Special Needs: Before submitting an application for Chelsea, please understand that Chelsea is "special" in the sense that she just wants to be in your company. She does not want to be touched. or picked up. Therefore, she is not a dog who will cuddle on your lap, or will allow you to put a leash on her to take a walk. If you think you are interested in adopting Chelsea, you would be doing it primarily for her. Her adoption is a true "rescue", where you would be giving her the chance to live the rest of her life out in a safe place.
