Penny came to DMPR from a high-kill shelter in Virginia.  She was found as a stray with only a collar on her.  While at the shelter, the staff realized that she was pregnant and contacted DMPR.  Through a generous donation of time and a plane, a pilot from Pilots-n-Paws flew Penny from the shelter to a nearby airport.  Just a week after arriving, Penny gave birth to eight puppies.  Penny has a been a great mother to her puppies these past six weeks, and now that the puppies are weaned, she is looking for her forever home.  While Penny did not appear to have a lot of training when she arrived at DMPR, she has quickly picked up on basic obedience commands.  She has been very good about staying close to her foster mom, but because she is a hound mix, she should always stay on a leash or in a fenced-in yard.  Those squirrels are just too tempting!  Penny recently went to a local Halloween party, and was surrounded children and adults and many other dogs.  She was very calm and friendly, and gave a very gentle kiss to each child that petted her.  Penny would do great in a home where she can finally get the love and attention she deserves.  If you are interested in adopting Penny please fill out an application on our site at www.delawarepuppyrescue.com.
