10/23:  A Vet visit today confirmed that Nero is over his pneumonia and cough and his left eye has vision.  He is now off all medications and been given the OK for adoption.  The only issue is that he has a Grade 4 Patellar Luxation in his left knee.  What this means is that his knee cap does not fit properly over his knee and is located more to the side of it.    Nero runs and plays like a normal puppy and is not aware of this problem but he may need surgery down the road to correct it.  He went from 3.5 lbs. to now 6 lbs.  He is a great little guy, playful, full of love and would make a great pet.  Because of the potential surgery we are waiving his adoption fee to an approved adopter that would agree to have the surgery when and if it is needed. 

10/7:  Nero was released from Veterinary Specialty Center on Friday, 10/5.  We are very thankful they pulled him through as it was touch and go for the first few days.  He is now with his foster mom continuing his recovery and starting to show lots of improvements each day.  Nero will still need to go back to Veterinary Specialty to have surgery on his left knee to repair a birth defect but that is on hold until he back to 100%. 

10/1 Update.  Nero has developed pneumonia and is currently in critical care at the Veterinary Specialty Hospital in New Castle, DE.  He is on oxygen and IVs.  We have asked them to take every measure possible to get him through.  Updates will be posted.  Please send good thoughts and prayers his way.

Experienced belly-rubber required.  Nero is a little ball of musch.  Though he enjoys his foster siblings, playing with his toys and entertaining himself, he like nothing more than to be held in your arms for a belly rub.  He's a tiny boy for a Cavalier and will probably grow to be only in the 15-20 lb range. 

Nero arrived to us with stitches in his left eye.  He is a rescue from a puppy mill and no explanation was given to us.  The stitches were removed and it was discovered that he at one point had an eye infection.  He has sight in the eye and continues on an antibiotic to clear up any remaining infection.  It may stay discolored the remainder of his life but he's OK he no problem with it being a little different looking.
