Maggie May is a wonderful, sweet dog who has had a rough time in life so far.  She ended up very pregnant in a NC kill shelter.  DPR was able to rescue her and bring her to Delaware before she gave birth to her 6 puppies.  Maggie was a fantastic, attentive mother, and now that her puppies have been adopted, she is ready to find her forever home.

Maggie is a sweet, gentle soul.  She just wants to be loved, and is especially happy keeping your lap warm.  At only 45 pounds, she fits perfectly in your lap and her new owner will need to be content having her snuggle up for some loving while watching TV together.  It would appear that someone treated Maggie unkindly during her life, and she is scared of sudden movements or loud noises.  Although she is fine with her foster mom’s 2 year old granddaughter, sometimes the activity level is a bit much for her, so she would be more comfortable in a home with teenage children; or an older couple would be perfect for her.  She loves to ride in the car and gets very excited when she sees her leash.  Maggie will want to go everywhere with you!  Maggie also needs a fenced in yard.

Maggie is house trained, spayed, and up-to-date on her vaccinations.  She is being treated for Heartworm and will come with her medication, which simply consists of being given a Doxycycline pill twice a day with her meals.  The treatment will last approximately 90 days.  Maggie loves other dogs, she has 2 foster dog siblings, and is great around cats.  Maggie is just an all around love and has absolutely blossomed in the 4 months she has been in DE.  She has gone from being afraid of so much, to being a devoted, adoring, loving companion.  She’s now a very happy dog, and bounces down the hall like a bunny first thing in the morning.  If she could talk she would say, “Today is a great day, no one is going to hurt me today!”  Maggie just smiles and loves life and her foster mom adores her!!
