In general, Whippets are intelligent, lively, affectionate, sweet and docile. This very devoted companion is quiet and calm in the home. The Whippet should never be roughly trained, for it is extremely sensitive, both physically and mentally. These dogs are good with children of all ages as long as the children do not roughhouse or tease the dog. Whippets are clean, virtually odor free, easy to care for and easy to travel with. They are good watchdogs and may be reserved with strangers. Darla is a very sweet & affectionate dog; she is spayed & fully vetted. She is very timid (especially with men). Darla has had a rough start to her young life. In Texas, she was boarded & had very little human contact and was obviously mistreated by a male. Darla has been in our foster care for two months; she loves my wife & comes right to her, but still shies away from me. She loves to run and play with our other dogs. We have been told she is good with children and OK with cats, but we have not had an occasion to observe such ourselves.
If you are willing to invest the time to show Darla much love& affection, she will reward you in kind many times over...
