This is Charley, an irresistibly adorable one year old lab/shepherd mix. Charley is a real DAWG dog - a big sweet lovable goof who wants to climb into your lap and lick your face from ear to ear with big wet slobbery kisses. He is extremely loving and loyal and is always at our feet or by our sides. Charley is eager to please and takes direction well with consistency. He was smart enough to learn the invisible fence within days, and can sit, stay, come, give paw, and lay on command.


Charley was rescued from the SPCA and adopted, then returned to us because his former family were new dog owners who never gave him the exercise and discipline he needed. In his foster homes, with experienced dog owners to provide leadership and room to run and play, Charley is a model citizen, so this time we will only adopt Charley to a family who has a fenced in yard, wood or invisible, and has experience training dogs.

PLEASE NOTE: There will be NO required adoption fee for Charley, since his vet bills have already been paid for by his former family. The rescue will be happy to accept any donation to help other dogs in Charley's name --- and allow us to continue our work of rescuing dogs from shelters.

Charley is good with children and cats and enjoys playing with other dogs. However, even though he doesn't really mean to, because of his size and energy level, Charley can seem intimidating to other dogs. Our alpha male, Cody, fought with and rolled Charley for the first several days until he was completely sure Charley understood who was boss. Since Charley was quite willing to submit to a much smaller dog, I wouldn't say he's a true alpha, but a home with a submissive male or females would be preferred, or with someone very, very confident about introducing him to their own alpha male.

All L&F dogs/pups are crate & potty trained, temperament tested, have been chosen for sweet & gentle dispositions, have lived in foster homes with families, and have had the following:

Microchipping

Tested for Heartworm, Lyme, Ehrlichia

First month supply of HeartGuard & Frontline Plus

Rabies, Distemper, Parvo vaccines.

Intra Trac ll Kennel Cough

Two De-Worming

Spay/Neuter certificate, where applicable.

No dog 6 months and up will ever leave L&F Dog Rescue without being spayed/neutered. Spay/Neuter is MANDATORY.
