Update 12/23: Katie arrived on Saturday and we immediately noticed a limp with her back right leg.  Over the weekend, she seemed to have a bit of weakness and stiffness in her hind quarters.  We took her to our vet yesterday and after an examination and x-ray, it was determined that Katie has hip dysplasia.  Her left hip is totally out of the socket, and her right hip has problems, as well, causing her the weakness and pain.  She is now on pain killers and we are watching her very carefully.  She may very well need surgery in about a month, but we want to give her time to see how she does now that she is out of the shelter and in a warm home where she is getting lots of love, care and attention.  She was the best patient ever while at the vets and everyone loved her.  We will keep you posted on her progress.

Beautiful Katie is coming to Delaware Puppy Rescue next weekend from a shelter in Georgia, hoping to find her forever home for the holidays. She is around a year and a half old, and is 33 pounds. She is fully vetted, spayed, loves other dogs and is fine with cats. We are not sure exactly what mix she is, the shelter has her listed as a black lab mix, but since she is only 33 lbs., we are going to call her a "Labette".  Perhaps she has some hound or beagle mixed in there, as well.  We will know more once we meet her.  We do know that she is the happiest girl, her tail never stops wagging and she has the most beautiful smile. We can't wait to meet Katie and find her a wonderful forever home. If you are on Facebook, you can see a video of Katie by clicking the following link.  The narrator of the video was concerned about Katie's leg, but we have confirmed that she is fine, she just played a little too hard during recess at the shelter on the day that they took this video, which was back on Nov. 6th.
