1-15-07 Update: Does this guy look familiar? Yes - this is our Rambo!! His infections are gone and his open leisons are closed. He is finally getting fur in most of his blad spots. He has started to put on some much needed weight and is becoming very close to his foster brother, Ike the German Shepard. His foster mom, Jessie, is working with him on his basic manners. His vet said that she is thrilled with Rambo's progress and his future looks great. He will continue on medication and dips for the next couple of months but his very rough start in life is a distant memory. We cannot thank all of you enough for your support with Rambo. Update 1/6/07: After one month of treatment Rambo is doing very well. Though in his picture taken about a week ago he still shows some mild infections and lots of area's of damaged skin. If you look closely you can see though that the open leisons are closed! He still has lots of bald spots that will be there for awhile but he has responded wonderfully to his treatments and we have high hopes of a full recovery for him. We want to thank everyone for their kind notes and donations to help Rambo. If we have missed anyone below we sincerely apologize. Rambo has no idea how many people are pulling for him. The support we have received from the community is deeply appreciated and drives us on to continue to help dogs like Rambo out there. 12/9/06: We received a call from a family who indicated they had a puppy with demdex mange that they could not treat. When we went to pick up the puppy we could not believe the site in front of us. He was bleeding from open sores over his entire body. He is underweight with eyes swelled shut. Demedex is a mange that consists of microscopic mites that eat away the skin of an animal. If treated promptly the condition can clear up within a few months/discomfort and pain are minimal. Rambo's owners obviously did little to help him. He was literally being eaten alive by these mites and he was parked in a crate covered by a blanket. We now have Rambo in treatment and medicated with various drugs to start the process of him healing. When mange gets to this point, the potential for a full recovery is shaky. We will do everything possible and are prepared to care for him however long it may take. If you would like to help us in our care for Rambo, a donation can be made through Paypal or by credit card by clicking on the donation box on our front page. A check can also be written out to Delaware Puppy rescue in care of Rambo. Address: 5 Gates Circle; Hockessin, DE 19707. This four month old puppy has been suffering for at least a month, getting worse each day. Because the owners did - eventually - request help, charges cannot be filed according to the SPCA. The puppy was purchased from a breeder in Harrington, Delaware. According to the owners, several phone calls to the breeder were never answered. We will be following up on this information to see if more puppies like Rambo are at this breeder's facility possibly in the same condition. We will continue to send out updates on Rambo as he progress's and we learn more about the breeder of this Bloodhound pup. All donations are tax deductible. We will continue with updates on Rambo as he gets better.
